Here come the 2019 Summer Eclipses in the signs of Cancer and Capricorn.
So, what are eclipses?
A SOLAR ECLIPSE occurs at a New Moon when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, when the New Moon is within 17° 25’ of the north or south node. This particular Total Solar Eclipse is about a 7° orb wide from the Cancer North Node.
A TOTAL Solar Eclipse occurs when the moon completely covers the Sun and the Moon at perigee - when the moon is closest to the earth.
AN ANNULAR Solar Eclipse occurs when the Moon is at apogee - when moon is furthest from the earth. During an Annular Solar Eclipse there is a ring of sunlight visible around the moon, called “the ring of fire.”
A LUNAR Eclipse occurs at a Full Moon when the Earth passes between the Moon and the Sun. A Lunar Eclipse occurs when the Full Moon is within 11° 38’ of the north or south node.
A TOTAL Lunar Eclipse occurs when the moon is completely covered by the earth’s shadow.
How to work with Eclipses?
Here’s how to get the most out of your opportunities available at the Eclipses.
Working with Eclipses in your personal horoscope:
Take note of the sign symbolism and the natal house that the solar and lunar eclipse fall in. The house in your personal chart where an eclipse occurs represents an area of your life that is up for review and dramatic change.
Embrace the changes being offered. Think of an Eclipse as a Reboot opportunity for a fresh start. Clear the playing field. A whole new life is possible now, so go for it!!
Transiting eclipses will have the greatest impact when conjunct, square or opposite your Sun, Moon, Ascendant, Midheaven or the ruler of your Ascendant.
Check where an Eclipse is happening in your natal chart. If it’s in a 1-2° orb of a planet or point it will be especially potent and significant for you. All Eclipses bring dramatic life altering change, but when an Eclipse is in a private up close encounter with one of your own. Well, buckle your seat belts. You’re in for a WILD Ride. Anything can happen! Typically, you will be VERY Glad about what happens. Though it may take some time for the dust to settle and to re-orient to your new life and way of being.
- Check the Prenatal Solar Eclipse (PNSE) that occurred when you were in utero.
The PNSE is a life-long sensitive degree in your chart. Other people’s planets at that degree may be significant. Also, transits to the PNSE can be quite significant. The affairs of the house where your PNSE is located are important throughout your life. The house placement of your PNSE shows where you need to continually grow and expand.
An Eclipse that is speaking directly with your PNSE can have an all pervasive depth charge life altering effect on you.
- Essential oils can be your greatest allies during (and following) an Eclipse.
Essential oils can help you stay relaxed, go with the flow of events and be more adaptable during the time it can take to integrate the changes.
Generally, earthy and woody scents have the most harmonizing and stabilizing effect on the emotions during and after an eclipse, i.e. Himalayan or Atlas Cedarwood, Patchouli, Vetiver, Galbanum and Ylang-Ylang III are all good choices.
2019 SUMMER ECLIPSE SEASON
July 2nd we have a Total Solar Eclipse at 10° 38’ of Cancer, exact at 12:18pm PT.
The Cancer Solar Eclipse is Conjunct Sirius (the brightest star in the night sky). Sirius gives protection to the joining of the Cancer Sun and Moon and ensures a new birth to come for home and family. All things related to Cancer natives and 4th house matters, which Cancer rules, are favored now.
Sirius favors ambition, pride, emotionality, fame, leadership and wealth. Fires, drought and danger may come through impetuosity. So, go slow and take care to allow things to easily unfold naturally. Intense emotionality is possible, stay positive.
Sirius has been worshipped in many cultures; it’s rising in ancient Egypt signaled the peak of summer. It was the time of the annual flooding of the Nile and the start of the ancient Egyptian calendar
Sirius brings good fortune to your Jupiter and Mars energies whether by natal position or transit which is great. Mars has been in its Fall (during its transit of Cancer) and can use a boost. The boost to Jupiter Rx will help you uncover false beliefs that may “unknowingly” hold you back in some way.
- On July 16th we have the partial Lunar Eclipse at 24° 04’ of Capricorn (10th house), exact at 2:38pm PT.
