How to Stay Sane in an Insane World -- Step 1 Take Charge of Yourself +Sedative EO Recipe

Confusion and overwhelm have been running rampant for many of us in our daily lives.

You may be experiencing an all too frequent cycle. Life reaches a fever pitch, things plateau for a time, then once again you’re off to the races trying to keep up with the latest developments. Yes, life  has always been messy. But, it seems like life’s messiness is reaching new extremes.

The only thing you can control in life is you!

This series of articles is meant to support you to do just that. Take charge of yourself. Life will then follow your lead.

Your first step in taking taking charge of yourself is to take charge of the meaning you give to life events. Our world is undergoing increasing and rapid evolutionary change which is resulting in much chaos and confusion. The only way out is through. It’s going to be a bumpy ride for a while more, so nurture and empower yourself with this series of holistic self care articles.

Step 1

Take charge of the stories you tell yourself.

Certain essential oils can help you to do this. By calming your mind you can take charge of the fears and worries you tell yourself. You can begin to reprogram your mind to help you create entirely new meanings for life events.

Stopping the mental chatter even for a moment helps your mind become more resourceful. When in a resourceful mental state you can access solutions to challenges you may face. The first simple step is to  take a moment to use your essential oil and allow your mind to become peaceful and calm.

Key Essential Oil to Use

Galbanum (Ferula galbaniflua) -
Galbanum oil’s deeply complex  and grounding scent can root you to the present moment and soothe your greatest fears. Inhaling the scent of Galbanum is like a protective hug from Mother Earth.

Aromas: 
Earthy, spicy, herbal, warm, woody, balsamic and piney

Chemical Family: Monoterpene 

  • An ancient aromatic plant oil
  • Intensely green scent appreciated by perfumers
  • Referred to as the sacred "mother resin"
  • One of the oldest herbs
  • Psycho-emotionally calming, grounding and balancing
  • Contains rejuvenating, calming and balancing properties

Directions:

Dispense 1-3 drops of Galbanum pure essential oil on a cotton ball. Slowly introduce the oils into your system by breathing in their vapors. Exhale fully and inhale once more. Continue breathing the aromatic vapors for 30-60 seconds. Then allow yourself to rest for 5 minutes.

Simply by taking a moment to breathe in the vapors of your Galbanum oil several times each day you will begin to train your mind how to be quiet and still. You must take control over your mind and teach it how to be calm and still, not to run rampant with worry and fear.

Sedative EO Recipe

This is a potent calming and sedating essential oil recipe. Please do not use when operating heavy equipment, or driving.

To a 5ml (100 drops) euro-dropper bottle add:

Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea) - 50 drops
Ylang Ylang III (Cananga odorata) - 50 drops
Galbanum (Ferula galbaniflua) - 1-5 drops

Optional:

German Chamomile (Matricaria recutita) - 10 drops (replace 10 drops of Clary Sage)
Spikenard (Nardostachys jatamansi) - 10 drops (replace 10 drops of Ylang III)

Cap bottle tightly and shake vigorously to mix your oils thoroughly. Allow to synergize for 12 hours, or longer before using.
