A wonderfully unique oil, this distillation of Boswellia carterii frankincense oil is from Somalia. It is produced in smaller batches and generally considered superior to most large batch varieties.

The best location for growing and distilling frankincense is considered by many perfumers to be Oman, India. However, in recent years Oman Frankincense has become endangered due to over harvesting practices.
This small batch Somalian variety of Frankincense carterii is of the finest quality available in the world. Frankincense oil produced in Somalia, is where the Roman Catholic Church buys most of its stock each year.
Frankincense has been traded for over 5000 year. It is one of the sacred and holy oils used since ancient times when aromatic oils were traded like valuable commodities and considered as precious as gold.
Frankincense is “tapped” by slashing the bark of the thin and haggard looking, but robust trees. This process, called striping, allows the tree’s resin to bleed out and harden into tears. There are several species of frankincense trees used for distilling the oil.
Tapping is done two to three times a year with the final tap producing the best tears due to their higher aromatic chemical content. Generally, the more opaque the resin tears are the more superior the quality.
There is some concern that frankincense tree populations are in severe decline due, in part, from over harvesting, as well as other environmental factors.
Many of the characteristic properties of Frankincense oil are found in both the frereana and carterii species though frereana is most often preferred by perfumers.
Its remarkable ability to maintain its integrity in any blend has given Frankincense a reputation for bestowing this same stability of character and, "to remain true to oneself," upon the one using its fragrance.
Spiritually and psycho-emotionally, Frankincense oil is best known for it’s enduring emotional and spiritual support. It lends its support to help you be strong and recover after grief and loss or post traumatic stress.
Frankincense oil is often used in religious ceremonies as a perfume oil. It is also used for anointing and consecrating the body and for performing holy deeds. Thought to possess miraculous healing powers, Frankincense oil has been reported to heal and cure every possible illness since ancient times.
In recent years the carterii variety has been the subject of much research for its anti-humoral properties. At this time there are more than 10,000 articles in PubMed on evidence supporting the use of essential oils for treating cancer. Some of the evidence gathered is related to frankincense and cancer.
Metaphysically, cancer is related to low self worth and internalized and unresolved anger issues. As well as, an unwillingness to forgive and let go of the past.
Frankincense is known for being the oil to help you, “let go and allow whatever happens to be okay.”
Traditionally. Frankincense has been used in many cultures for increasing cellular respiration, slowing down breathing and heart rate, and releasing problems into God’s care. This is the purpose for which Frankincense oil is used in many religious ceremonies.
An analgesic (pain reliever) and anti-inflammatory, frankincense oil may be helpful for treating rheumatism and sports injuries.
Its expectorant and anti-catarrh action may make Frankincense oil useful for treating symptoms of asthma and bronchitis.
Frankincense oil's immune stimulant properties can help increase white blood cell (WBC) count and support a healthy immune function.
A natural diuretic, Frankincense oil can also help to relieve digestive discomfort and flatulence.
Frankincense’s regulating properties may be useful for balancing menstrual cycles and relieving pre-menstrual symptoms like irritability, headache and cramps.
Its characteristic calming and rejuvenating effects make frankincense oil nourishing for all skin types. Its action to tone and balance the skin’s natural sebum production make it especially nourishing for oily and mature skin types.
