For a variety of skin conditions use before your bath or shower.
Preparation - what you will need:
Recommend you use organic ingredients if available.
- Small ceramic or glass bowl
- 1 cup cane sugar, fine grain (exfoliating pore polish)
- 1-4 teaspoons favorite carrier oil, i.e. rose hip, light coconut, jojoba
- 1-3 drops pure essential oil
- Sterilized instrument such as a stainless steel teaspoon
- Substitute: 1 cup raw brown sugar (aggressive exfoliation)
Blend together your sugar and chosen carrier oil until thoroughly mixed
Add your pure essential oil(s) to the mixture and blend thoroughly
Add more carrier oil as desired to your 'Sugar Scrub' blend if you prefer a loose, wet action for your 'Sugar Scrub.'
Stand over a large bath towel as you begin to apply your sugar scrub. Rub your skin gently, using upward sweeping strokes, start at your toes and work upwards to your abdomen. Then begin to stroke upwards from your fingers tips to your shoulders.
After finishing your extremities begin rubbing the 'Sugar Scrub' onto the front side of your torso and then your backside.
You can rinse off your "Sugar Scrub' in a warm and soothing shower, or take a steaming hot bath afterwards.
After your 'Sugar Scrub' your skin will look lustrous and feel silky smooth!
Patchouli - An excellent skin tonic oil Patchouli is often used in many synergistic skin care formulas. Its regulating properties act to tone and strengthen skin cell tissue, as well as regulate oily and combination skin conditions. Patchouli's action is similar to Sandalwood for rejuvenating chapped, cracked, or mature and sensitive skin. As Patchouli essential oil has antiseptic properties it is also useful for controlling acne outbreaks.
Rosewood - Excellent for skin care as it is reputed to stimulate new cell growth, and is skin balancing as well as nourishing. Rosewood oil may be helpful for treating acne, rosacea, rash and skin sores.
Myrrh - An ancient and sacred oil Myrrh's soothing, astringent action make it excellent for relieving a variety of skin conditions, including: acne, sensitive, mature, oily or dry, wrinkled, chapped, or cracked skin. Blend Myrrh essential oil with Helichrysum oil for softening lines, scars and other adhesions.
Rose Geranium - is suitable for ALL skin types! Its regulating properties make it useful for balancing too oily, dry or combination skin types. Rose Geranium soothes sensitive or irritated skin and is useful for treating acne, burns, bruises, shingles, herpes, eczema and dermatitis.
Ylang Ylang - has traditionally been used in beauty and skin care as its plant hormones promote cellular regeneration. Its moisture balancing effect on the skin's natural sebum production, makes Ylang Ylang oil suitable for sensitive, oily, dry and mature skin types.
Carrot Seed - Harmonizing for ALL skin types Carrot Seed oil's skin nourishing action makes it a useful addition to most facial and skin care formulas. Its cooling effect is ideal for soothing sensitive or inflamed cell tissue. Its cleansing, moisturizing and tonic properties make it an excellent choice for smoothing and softening facial lines and wrinkles.
Cypress - Promotes cellular regeneration. Its astringent properties make it one of the most effective essential oils for balancing too oily skin conditions and controlling acne outbreaks! Cypress oil is also an effective treatment for cellulite. Use it alone or blend in a one to one ratio with Pink Grapefruit oil.
